Electric Castle, a unique festival experience at Banffy Castle in Transylvania, is among the five finalists that has been selected for the XLIVE 2017 Awards. Electric Castle was singled out in strong competition with more than 100 global festival industry insiders from 4 continents, 13 countries and 18 states who also submitted their entries. The Queue-it solution was a vital part of their submission for the “Best Use of Technology at a Festival” award.

Acknowledgment of innovative tech-solutions in the festival industry

The Everfest-XLIVE Awards aims to bring the festival production industry together to honor innovators in the festival space, celebrate festival producers and their peers, and most importantly, reward incredible accomplishments such as those of Electric Castle.

Electric Castle has developed its own ticketing platform to secure a first-class customer experience, handling everything from ticket issuing, payments, upgrades and add-ons, as well as invitations. The platform integrates with Queue-it’s virtual waiting room solution so that they can easily manage high volume online traffic without any website failures, securing a consistent online experience and a first positive brand interaction for the fans.

Electric Castle was the first festival to integrate online payment for auto top-up and refund on RFID bracelets which were used as part of their cashless systems and entrance. Their use of technology was also spread throughout the festival, integrating technology in the entertainment offered as well as through their staff. A robotic arm was considered as one of the festival’s bartenders, creating over 1200 cocktails.

Interactive installations and sustainable solutions

The festival had its own Tech World, a place where one of their partners created a world of new technologies filled with audio video and sensorial technologies. Art installations used projection mapping and sound installations in collaboration with international artists, to create interactive installations such as 3D domes or dancing areas. More than 600 sqm of LED and 140 beams and lights were used to create the biggest light and video experience on a stage in Eastern Europe.

Besides having a strong focus on emerging technology and tailoring its experiences around art installations which enrich the audience’s experience, the Electric Castle Festival prides itself in contributing to the environment by recycling 67% of its generated waste, while their RFID payment system ensures cashless payment, also reducing paper waste.

Winners will be celebrated during the XLIVE Conference held at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas on Tuesday, December 12, 2017.
